Phragmipedium besseae - watercolor

Not sure why I decided to paint this slightly bizarre orchid, the colour is extremely bright the main petals stiff and the whole flower seems to have a strange perspective, but this is how it looks. Painting it true to life means ending up with a strange looking flower!  The biggest problem was to achive a bright colored flower that would still be transparent and not dull from to much pain.

Having said that Im kind of pleased on how it turned out. It is my first painting on Fabriano HP extra white, before I used Fabriano HP traditional white. I like extra white since I don't have to compensate for the cream colour thats in the paper.
